Comments Off on How far will my scooter travel?
Generally scooter travel distances are dependant on many factors.
Weight of person, terrain, weight of scooter but most importantly the size of the batteries. Also the age of the scooter and frequency of servicing
can effect the distance a scooter will travel.
Comments Off on What general maintenance do I need to perform on a scooter?
Scooters should be serviced dependant on how much you use it. Rule of thumb is if you drive more than 10 hours per week I would service the scooter
every 6 months. less than that then once a year if the scooter is still performing well. i.e speed and distance.
Comments Off on How long will my batteries last until I need to replace them?
Batteries are one of those things that is hard to predict how long they will last.
Sometime they might only last a year and others I have known to last up to 8 years.
It is important to always keep your batteries topped up after every use and if not being used put the scooter on charge every second day to keep them healthy.
Like most rechargeable batteries they work better when used and recharged and last longer.
Batteries always have a lifespan though.
Comments Off on Weight capacity on scooters are they accurate?
I would always allow a 20kgs margin when choosing a scooter to fit my weight.
It is important to note that the weight capacity on a scooter is a guideline,
so the more weight you –put on a scooter over a period of time will effect the
performance and distance of the scooter. The more the scooter has to work
and thus it is vital you choose a scooter that is more than suitable for you.
Comments Off on My walkers brakes arn’t working is it broken?
In most cases walker brakes need to be adjusted on a regular basis.
It is important to test your brakes by locking them and testing the walker
if it moves with them on. Tyres do wear down and the brakes will need adjusting
occasionally. At MTC we do this for free, just bring your walker into our Hendon warehouse and we will do it on the spot.
Comments Off on Why is the light on the steering column flashing and my scooter isn’t working?
A scooter has a computerized control box and will tell you what is wrong with it by flashing a number of times at you.
Most scooters have a faults section in their manual. So turn your scooter off and on and count the number
of flashes until it pauses and starts again, this way you can determine what might be the fault.
Comments Off on If my scooter isn’t working is there a way to trouble shoot?
If the scooter key is switched on and isn’t moving but there is power to the scooter, i.e the light is on the dashboard.
Check to make sure the charger is not plugged in as scooters will not move whilst being charged.
Check that the brake release is not on (the lever generally at the back of the scooter which allows you to push it)
Turn this lever to release position and then back into engaged position, turn scooter off and then on again.
